New Line Of Low-loss RF Coaxial Cable AssembliesCrystek has introduced a new line of low-loss RF coaxial cable assemblies featuring rugged stainless-steel solder-clamp construction and attenuation of 0.36 dB/ft. at 18 GHz. The LL142 Series cable offers shielding effectiveness of greater than -110 dB with an operating temperature range of -55 to +85ºC (extended range of -55 to +125ºC available through special order). Prysmian at the heart of the matter in ItalyPrysmian Telecom Cables and Systems announced the first deployment of its Sirocco, blown optical fibre system, in Italy. The installation has been carried out at the ELETTRA research facility in Basovizza near Trieste, in the north-east of the country. ELETTRA is an advanced synchrotron light laboratory, run by Sincrotrone Trieste S.C.p.A. It specializes in fundamental studies of sub-atomic matter using its third generation synchrotron particle accelerator. The fourth generation light source Fermi@Elettra is currently under commissioning and will allow advanced research to be undertaken in several fields of matter structure.

Torsion- Resistant Cables Specifically for use with Wind GeneratorsLeading cable solutions provider, Lapp Ltd, has made available a new torsion resistant, rubber, single core cable designed by the company specifically for use with today's wind energy generators. Part of the company's established Olflex cable family, the H07BN4-F features an abrasion resistant outer sheath and a conductor that that has been developed to allow for torsional movements of ± 150º/m which makes it suitable for connecting the moving gondola to the ground floor transformer. Voltage rating is from 450 to 750V and it meets the exacting requirements of VDE 0282 part 12.
