Analog Devices, Inc. continues to expand its radio frequency product portfolio, adding a new quadrature demodulator and dual gain trim amplifier for direct conversion receivers in next generation cellular 3G/4G and broadband wireless 802.16 applications. The ADL5380 demodulator is the industry's first product capable of operating from 400 MHz to 6 GHz, which allows radio designers to apply the same device across a range of products and frequency variants. The companion AD8366 is the industry's first dual-channel digital gain trim amplifier (DGTA) and is designed to enable, integrate and cost reduce direct conversion radio receivers. The combined two-chip solution can reduce the active component count by 60 percent within a radio design, providing considerable board area and bill of material (BOM) savings.

Intersil has introduced the ISL1539, the latest addition to its family of line drivers featuring low power, very small footprint and extremely good linearity. The ISL1539 is the first monolithic, dual port, DSL line driver for 100 Mbps VDSL2 Central Office (CO) applications. The ISL1539 uses proprietary circuitry to achieve low distortion, high capacitance drive and less than 910mW/port total power consumption while delivering 20.5dBm output power in 5-band VDSL2 applications. Analog Devices has introduced a two-chip IF (intermediate frequency) receiver solution that dramatically improves the data bandwidth and capacity of next-generation, multi-carrier wireless base stations compatible with emerging 3G cellular transmission standards. Analog Devices' dual-channel AD8376 VGA (variable gain amplifier) and AD6655 IF diversity receiver solution replaces 48 discrete components, enabling 3G micro- and pico-cell base stations with dramatically reduced power consumption and physical volume. Each radio channel can handle up to six carriers. The new VGA and IF diversity receiver also increase automatic gain-control loop performance by 100 times existing options, which improves base station receiver sensitivity and dynamic range and ensures both weak and strong incoming cell phone call signals are quickly and effectively received and processed.
