C&D Technologies has introduced a new isolated DC/DC Converter that provides a cost and space saving solution for Intermediate Bus Architecture applications in computer and telecommunications equipment. The QUS40-096 has an unregulated output, and a fixed conversion ratio of 5:1 that is maintained between the input and output voltages. The module is housed in a compact, industry standard, quarter-brick footprint package.
Operating from a typical input voltage of 48VDC, the QUS40-096 has an output voltage set-point of 9.6VDC. It is able to deliver a maximum output power of 300W at 38VDC input, +55ºC and 200LFM airflow, and has a typical efficiency of 96.6%. By incorporating isolation (up to 2250VDC), the new bus converter allows designers to achieve overall cost and real estate savings by allowing them to use non-isolated point-of-load (POL) devices rather than larger, more expensive isolated versions.
The QUS40-096 features a primary side remote enable capability (positive or negative triggered), plus over-current and over-temperature protection, both with automatic restart. The versatile module is also suitable for parallel operation allowing it to satisfy the requirements of higher power applications. Overall dimensions of the QUS40-096 are 58.4mm x 36.8mm x 12.2mm. The module has UL94V-0 flammability rating and a demonstrated MTBF of 2 million hours. Operating temperature range is –40ºC to +85ºC.
