Altran Praxis and AdaCore release open source SPARK Implementation of SPARK Algorithm
Altran Praxis and AdaCore today announced a new reference implementation of the Skein algorithm, written and verified using the GPL 2010 Edition of the SPARK language and toolset. Skein is a cryptographic hash function and an entrant in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) hash function competition to design what will become the new Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-3) standard. Such hash functions are used to compute short "digests" of long messages, and are one of the key building blocks of digital communication and cryptographic systems. Altran Praxis and AdaCore have open sourced the SPARKSkein reference implementation and made it available to the developer community via the Skein website. Synopsys Galaxy Implementation Platform Used by TSMC for 28nm Process

IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM selected by Rescue Alert for their Medical Alarm Systems
IAR Systems has been selected by Rescue Alert, a manufacturer of personal medical alert systems aimed at helping people with medical conditions. Rescue Alert's new product is called the 'MXD Personal Response System'. It comes in the form of a base unit combined with a small transmitter button worn on a wrist band or on a necklace. The MXD device features two way voice communications between the user and the monitoring service, has a transmitter range of up to 600 feet, is waterproof and can operate on the base unit's backup battery for up to 90 hours. A coin lithium battery in the transmitter button may last up to five years. This personal medical alert system allows at-risk adults to call for help simply by pushing their transmitter button and talking to the monitoring service attendant over the two-way speaker.
