Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of the Board of Management of Messe München GmbH, assumed overall management responsibility for the event from the start of 2010. Christian Rocke (pictured) was appointed as the new Exhibition Director with effect from February 1, 2010. The new Chairman of the Advisory Board is Rainer Kurtz, Managing Partner of ERSA GmbH, Europe's largest manufacturer of soldering systems, and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Kurtz Group in Wertheim.

Rohde & Schwarz system solution generates phase-coherent multichannel signals for testing radar receivers
At productronica 2009, Rohde & Schwarz presented a flexibly configurable system solution for testing receivers in radar systems. Manufacturers and operators can use this application in development, production and service to simulate phase-coherent multichannel signals. The radar test system generates simple modulated or unmodulated pulse sequences and can also be expanded to a maximum of ten channels to create realistic scenarios.
R&S CMW500 multitechnology production tester now with signaling for GSM, WCDMA and LTE
At productronica 2009, Rohde & Schwarz presented the new signaling mode of the R&S CMW500 for production tests on wireless devices. The wideband radio communication tester simulates a wireless connection and then performs transmitter and receiver measurements. This makes the R&S CMW500 ideal both for signaling and non-signaling tests. Since both test concepts are used in production, the tester is a safe investment for manufacturers. As a flexibly scalable multistandard platform, the R&S CMW500 also covers all phases in the development of a wireless device.
Assembléon Premieres Yamaha’s New YS24 pick & place machine
Royal Philips Electronics subsidiary Assembléon showed the new Yamaha YS24 pick & place machine at Productronica 2009. Appearing for the first time in Europe, the full-featured dual-sided machine has a total of 120 feeder positions in a space of just two square meters. With speeds up to 72,000 components per hour, that makes the YS24 by far the world's most productive machine per square meter. The continuous drive to cut cost of operations makes area productivity a key performance indicator. Ultra compact machines like the YS24 can produce up to 30% higher output from the same floor space. That raises earnings while also making better use of resources, maintenance and energy.
productronica confirms its position as the World’s leading trade fair for electronics production
Electronics manufacturers from all over the world met at productronica 2009 in Munich from November 10 to 13, 2009. In spite of the economic crisis, the trade fair attracted 1,150 exhibitors and additionally represented companies (2007: 1,477). productronica therefore suffered a much lower decrease than many companies in the industry. The exhibition area amounted to 75,000 square meters in seven halls. 39 per cent of exhibitors came from abroad. The internationality of the trade fair therefore remained at the same high level from the previous event.
