11/11/2008

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation today announced that it will demonstrate production-ready 10GBASE-KR solutions for Ethernet backplanes and AdvancedTCA® reference design kit for the first time in Europe during electronica 2008, Nov. 11-14, at the Munich Trade Fair Centre.

The company’s QT2025 10GBASE-KR solutions will be demonstrated live in partnership with Molex, Inc. in Area B4, Booth #336 of the conference. The backplane Ethernet solution features AMCC’s industry leading 10Gbps Ethernet PHY IC technology and will show how backplane signaling can be implemented in ultra-high-speed systems through the Molex GbX I-Trac™ reference backplane.

“The data rate for Ethernet backplanes has evolved to 10 Gigabits per second but it pushes the limits on the capability of the target channels and developers have been challenged to implement solutions in a cost-effective manner,” said Brad Booth, member of AMCC’s CTO office and Chairman of the Ethernet Alliance. “Implementing a compliant solution requires innovation both in designing transceiver architecture and in verifying interoperation. AMCC’s demonstration with Molex proves interoperability and provides developers with a clear roadmap of how to accelerate time-to-market.”

AMCC will also be demonstrating its Arches AMC Form Factor Advanced TCA reference design kit in Area A6, Booth#469 during electronica 2008. The kit features dual AMCC PowerPC® 460GT processors is a key component in the company’s comprehensive strategy to support Advanced TCA. Arches provides developers with options for hardware, software, development tools and connectivity interfaces and it represents the company’s initiative to help accelerate time-to-market by creating a healthy product development ecosystem for its AdvancedTCA customers.
