Desktop Adapters Provide High Power

Specialist power conversion distributor, PIV Technology, has announced the launch of a series of high power desktop adapters that are new to the UK market. The AS Series is geared towards Media Centre, POS, DVR, LCD Monitor, LCD TV and IT applications and feature power outputs of 120W, 150W and 180W, outputs range from 12V to 48V (120W & 150W) and 19V to 24V (180W) with a minimum efficiency of 82%.

All of the adapters in the series feature a universal AC input (90Vac – 264Vac, 47Hz – 63Hz) and have built in active power factor correction (>0.95/115Vac, 0.98/230Vac). In line with CEC requirements this series of power supplies features a no load power consumption of < 0.75W. The standard input connector for these products is IEC C14 with C8 and C6 connectors available as an option.

The range features Over Temperature, Over Voltage, Short circuit and Overload protection. Short Circuit protection uses a hiccup mode technique which recovers automatically when the fault is removed. This series is convection cooled with an operating temperature range of 0 to 40 deg C at full load with de-rating of 3% per deg C from 41 to 50 deg C, storage temperature is -40 to +80 deg C. Operating humidity is 20% - 90% non-condensing and storage humidity is 10% - 90%.

All of the products in the series are UL, cUL and CE approved, comply to EN55022 Class B and EN61000 and are also meet the requirements of the ROHS and WEEE directive. The MTBF of this series is a minimum of 100K hr’s, MTBF is calculated using MIL-HDBK-217F at 25 deg C.

The AS series is compact for it’s power output with a maximum size of 200mm x 85mm x 47mm and a maximum weight of 1.2Kg.
