GPEG Launches Field Sequential COG LCD Technology
News Release from:
GPEG International Ltd
09 March 2010
GPEG announced the availability of field sequential (FS) colour LCD's for customised applications. These displays are based upon cost effective TN technology and GPEG is the first company to introduce modules complete with integrated COG controller IC and RGB backlight, making the display extremely easy to design in new products.
Field Sequential technology works by synchronising active segments on the LCD to individual colours generated by the RGB backlight; this enables a coloured display to be achieved without resorting to TFT technology with its associated complexity and cost. The fast fluids used in the display coupled with a small cell gap create a high contrast display (>250:1) with wide viewing angles.
The displays are particularly suitable for metering devices, consumer products and white goods applications where colour can be introduced to enhance the user interface, but at a cost that meets the needs of those particular markets. In addition, the MPU interface is greatly simplified when compared to TFT.
Due to the specific nature of such products, GPEG will utilise its' extensive experience of customisation of LCD’s to create specific designs that will meet customers exact design requirements.
