The AdvancedMC Plug, on the other hand, is manufactured using a tightly specified process and offers the highest degree of contact reliability and protection against wear and corrosion. 
SMT connectors for Flexible Printed CircuitsHarwin has released the F08 series of surface mount, 0.8mm pitch connectors for use with Flexible Printed Circuits (FPC) or flat conductor planar cables. Supplied in tubes and tape and reel packaging with two contact variations – horizontal top and horizontal bottom – SMT metal solder-down tabs provide additional strain relief. Available with 4 to 30 contacts, F08 connectors are also zero insertion force devices, simplifying assembly and minimising the risk of damage.

Ultra-miniature strip connector incorporates hyperboloid contactsHypertac has announced the launch of its ultra-miniature high density RD strip connector for PCB connections. It has been designed for particular use in applications that operate in severe environments such as electronic equipment in aerospace and defence applications. Using the 0.30 mm hyperboloid contact, the high density RD connector is offered in one or two rows with a pitch of 1.27 mm, enabling a contact density up to 60 ways per cm². It is available in either SMT or THT termination type, and is customisable for pick-and-place machines. 
Rectangular PCB connectors save spaceThe new low profile, high density HDLP range of rectangular PCB connectors from Hypertac are designed for use in space-constrained applications that require low mating force, a high number of mating cycles, low and stable contact resistance, and excellent fretting corrosion resistance. With IP67 sealing when mated, the HDLP series is particularly suitable for missile guidance and propulsion systems, ruggedised computer systems, camera or display applications, and communications panels and enclosures. 
SMT board-to-board connectors permit 4.5mm board spacingJAE Europe has introduced the IL-WX series of surface mount board-to-board connectors, permitting 4.5mm board spacing for space-constrained products such as precision instrumentation, office equipment and consumer medical devices. 
Omron shrinks FPC connectorsOmron has further miniaturised its FPC connector portfolio, with the introduction of a new ultra-low profile version that is just 0.5mm thick fully assembled, as well as a solution offering a reduced footprint, based on the smallest ever front-back depth. 
Waterproof Ethernet connectors for IDC and PC mountingBulgin's IP68 Waterproof Ethernet Buccaneer family has been extended with two new panel mount versions. Using standard RJ45 connectors these connectors are now available for PCB mounting and IDC termination. The PX0839/PC is designed for direct PCB mounting. The connector is rear-of panel mounting, which in addition to providing an anchor point for the PCB, also allows assembly and, if necessary, testing before fitting to the panel. The connector is intended for volume applications where speed of construction without costly cabling is essential. 
Harwin supplies custom PCB connection for unusual applicationsManufacturers who find they have problems connecting to a PCB will be interested in a service from high performance interconnect maker, Harwin. The Portsmouth-based company now enables customers who can't find a pin header to suit from its wide range, to specify a device customised to their own needs. 
Small, Robust PC Card Connectors and Cover SetsCannon Express Card 26 pin edge card connectors and cover sets meet the PCMCIA industry's demands for 34mm and 54mm wide modules. Stainless steel cover sets are quick and easy to assemble, and can either be snapped together or ultrasonically welded. With a universal slot design with module formats measuring 5mm deep by just 75mm long, the connectors and cover sets enable both compact ExpressCard/34 and /54 cards to fit in the same aperture, saving component count. This robust design is RoHS compliant and allows up to 10,000 cover set mating cycles.

5-row Type C female connectorHARTING has added a 5-row Type C female connector to its family of DIN 41612 products, rounding off its range of devices for applications based on the VME64x Bus. The new straight female connector has 160 press-in pins, and complements the HARTING range of VME64x shrouds. 
Low-cost socketing system for high-end ICsExpanding on its 2go range, connector manufacturer GTK has released a low cost IC socketing system in the form of the Turned Pin IC socket. The parts, which are RoHS-compliant, are more reliable than conventional stamped and formed pin sockets due to a more robust contact construction. This is said to enable a safe and cost-effective system for socketing expensive ICs or holding the firmware during the debugging phase of a new design. 
Fine pitch board to board connectors are more versatileHarwin has added to its M50 and M52 1.27mm pitch board to board connector series with the launch of conncectors in various heights from 3.45 to 8.5mm. |
