Versatile PCB terminal pins

Vero Technologies' PCB terminal pin family all feature either a knurled or a 4-zone barbed pressfit design to ensure good electrical continuity in PTH boards and to resist rotation or withdrawal during use. Terminal pins are predominantly used during original prototyping during development or for breadboarding modifications, extensions or adaptations in existing board layouts. Typically hand assembled into the PCB, they are an efficient low cost way of providing a selection of physical interconnect interfaces with single-sided, double-sided or multilayer PCBs. Available designs include ones to which leaded components can be soldered, mini wire-wrap sockets, headers and test points, all in single and double sided options. Also available are wire wrap pins with a 0.86 mm diagonal that are suitable for conventional standard and modified wrap techniques.

Mill-Max's knock-out-bottom receptacles are discrete sockets for soldering into printed circuit boards. Twelve sizes are now available; ten have carrier tape as standard packaging. Tape packaging is becoming increasingly popular since it permits through-hole components to be placed simultaneously with surface mount parts on pick-'n-place assembly lines. The knock-out-bottom feature enables these sockets to be made short enough to stand upright in a carrier tape pocket. The OFP barrier then permits the sockets to be vacuum picked from the tape prior to placement in a hole in the circuit board.

This SMT thru-board connector from Tyco provides a means to bring power from the underside of an FR4 or aluminium-clad pc board, eliminating issues of dressing wires on the top side of LED boards. The 2-position through 6-position connector surface-mounts on the top of the board, passing through the board to present an underside interface. The connector mates with standard Mini CT connectors.
