Further strengthening its executive management team, Actel Corporation today announced it has appointed Richard Kapusta as its new vice president of marketing and business development. Kapusta's extensive background in semiconductor engineering, marketing and management will enable him to continue Actel's ongoing expansion into new and existing market segments with its industry-leading, low-power field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technologies.

Actel Names New VP Of Marketing And Business Development “Across the globe, designers are focused on saving power. As a result, we’ve seen tremendous demand for our low-power, flash-based IGLOO and ProASIC3 FPGAs, as well as our mixed-signal Fusion devices for system and power management. We believe Rich’s extensive background will give him the strategic insights required to develop aggressive marketing and business plans for these award-winning products, allowing us to tackle the wealth of opportunities we are facing today and tomorrow,” said Fares Mubarak, senior vice president at Actel.

In his new position, Kapusta will drive product marketing and business development efforts for the company’s expanded portfolio of low-power, low-cost FPGAs, which includes its flash-based IGLOO, IGLOO PLUS, ProASIC3L and ProASIC3 families. He will also focus on Actel’s mixed-signal Fusion programmable system chips (PSCs), which incorporate analog functions, embedded flash and FPGA fabric in a single chip, making them ideal for intelligent system and power management.

A 15-year industry veteran, Kapusta comes to Actel from Exar Semiconductor, where he was vice president of business development, and Sipex Semiconductor, where he was product line vice president and general manager. Previously, he held various positions at Cypress Semiconductor — from applications engineer to business unit director for the company’s $100 million per year high-speed USB business. Kapusta holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
