Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTM8033, a complete 3A DC/DC µModule regulator system. In addition to the device's onboard inductor, DC/DC converter and supporting circuitry, it includes an EMI filter, making it compliant with EN55022 Class B by a wide margin. The circuitry is housed in a small 11.25mm x 15mm x 4.32mm enclosed plastic LGA package and weighs only 2.3g. The LTM8033 operates from a wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 36V and can provide a regulated output voltage ranging from 0.8V to 24V at up to 3A. If more than 3A is required, multiple LTM8033 devices can be paralleled for current sharing.

Linear Technology announces the H-grade version of the LT3496. The LT3496 is a 2MHz DC/DC converter designed to operate as a three-channel constant current LED driver. Each of the device's three channels can drive up to eight 500mA LEDs in series, enabling it to drive up to 24 x 500mA LEDs at efficiencies up to 96%. The H-grade version operates up to a junction temperature of 150˚C, compared to the E- and I-grade versions' 125˚C maximum junction temperature. All electrical specifications are identical for the E-, I- and H-grade versions. The H-grade parts are tested and guaranteed to the maximum junction temperature of 150˚C. They are ideal for automotive and industrial applications which are subjected to high ambient temperatures.

Maxim introduced the MAX17040/MAX17041 and MAX17043/MAX17044 1- and 2-cell fuel-gauge ICs. Using the Company's ModelGauge algorithm, these are the industry's only fuel gauges that accurately estimate the state of charge (SOC) of a Li+ battery without requiring current sensing. ModelGauge ICs eliminate the current-sense resistor and require very few external components, thus saving both space and cost. Linear Technology announced the LT3958, a high input voltage DC/DC converter for boost, flyback, SEPIC and inverting power supply applications. This device operates over an input voltage range from 5V to 80V, has an onboard 84V/3.5A power switch, and can achieve efficiencies up to 96%, making it well suited for industrial, automotive, medical and telecom applications.
