I2C Battery Gas Gauges for Single Li-Ion Cells Offers 1% AccuracyLinear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC2941/LTC2942 battery gas gauges with an I2C interface for 2.7V to 5.5V systems. Unlike most coulomb counters that infer charge by sampling the current and integrating digitally, the LTC2941/LTC2942 use a continuous-time analog integrator to measure charge directly, resulting in minimal offset and gain error and better overall charge accuracy. The LTC2941 measures the charge flowing in and out of a battery to within 1% accuracy at room temperature. The LTC2942 does the same while also incorporating a 14-bit No Latency Δ∑ ADC to measure battery voltage and die temperature to within 1.3% and ±5°C accuracy, respectively. 
MAX16067/68: 6-channel system managers with nonvolatile fault memory facilitate diagnosticsMaxim introduced the MAX16067/MAX16068, flash-configurable sequencers/monitors that simplify power management and fault diagnostics. These devices integrate a ±1%-accurate ADC for voltage monitoring/sequencing in complex systems where high reliability is critical. Additionally, they feature nonvolatile fault registers to store and read back fault data. Dual Positive/Negative ±20VIN ±150mA LDO Offers 20µVRMS NoiseLinear Technology Corporation announces the LT3032, a dual, low noise, positive/negative low dropout voltage linear regulator. The device delivers up to ±150mA continuous output current on each channel with a 300mV dropout voltage at full load. The LT3032 features a wide input voltage range of ±2.3V to ±20V, delivering adjustable output voltages from ±1.22V to ±20V. A single capacitor provides ultralow noise operation only 20µVRMS across a wide bandwidth of 10Hz to 100kHz for the positive output rail, and only 30µVRMS for the negative rail. The LT3032's output voltage tolerance is highly accurate at ±3% over line, load and temperature. The LTC4070, with its 450nA operating current, charges and protects batteries from previously unusable very low current, intermittent or continuous charging sources. The LTC4070's charge current may be boosted from 50mA up to 500mA with the addition of an external PMOS shunt device. An internal thermal battery conditioner reduces the float voltage to protect Li-Ion/Polymer cells at elevated battery temperatures. 
UltraFast - Digitally Programmable 5A LDO Features 85mV Dropout & 25uVRMS NoiseLinear Technology has announced the LT3070, a digitally programmable linear regulator with the lowest dropout voltage, lowest noise and fastest transient response of any monolithic 5A LDO currently available. Dropout voltage at 5A is an ultralow 85mV. Output voltage noise at 5A is only 25uVRMS over a 10Hz to 100kHz bandwidth. The SCM1110MF inverter power module (IPM) consists of all of the necessary power elements needed to configure the main circuit of an inverter as a high-side drive power supply: six IGBTs, three pre-drive ICs and six flyback diodes, as well as a bootstrap circuit (three bootstrap diodes and three boot resistors). 2.4MHz Step-Down DC/DC Converter in 3mm x 3mm DFN or MSOP-10E PackageLinear Technology has announced the LT3693, a 3.5A, 36V step-down switching regulator packaged in either a 3mm x 3mm DFN or MSOP-10E. The LT3693 operates within a VIN range of 3.6V to 36V, making it ideal for both load dump and cold-crank conditions found in automotive applications. Its 4.6A internal switch can deliver up to 3.5A of continuous output current at voltages as low as 0.79V. The LT3693's switching frequency is user programmable from 200kHz to 2.4MHz, enabling the designer to optimize efficiency while avoiding critical noise-sensitive frequency bands while keeping externals small. The combination of its high switching frequency and tiny 3mm x 3mm (or MSOP-10E) package ensure a very compact solution foot print. 
2.5MHz Boost/Inverter DC/DC Converter with 2A/42V Switch & SynchronizationLinear Technology has announced the LT3580, a current mode, fixed frequency step-up DC/DC converter with an internal 2A, 42V switch. It operates from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 32V, making it suitable for applications with input sources ranging from a single-cell Li-Ion to automotive inputs. The LT3580 can be configured as either a boost, SEPIC or an inverting converter. Its switching frequency can be programmed, via a single resistor or synchronized to an external clock, between 200kHz and 2.5MHz, enabling designers to minimize external component sizes and to avoid noise critical frequency bands. The combination of a 3mm x 3mm DFN package (or MSOP-8E) and tiny externals ensures a very compact footprint while minimizing solution cost.

Rail-to-Rail Input 3GHz Fully Differential ADC DriverLinear Technology has announced the LTC6406, a high-speed with low power ADC driver, low distortion and noise. It features a rail-to-rail input stage and an independently adjustable output common mode range. Using a single 3V supply, the LTC6406's differential outputs each swing from near ground to 2V. As a result, this amplifier is ideal for level shifting signals to match the input range of 12-bit to 16-bit single supply differential input ADCs. 
Multiphase Step-Down DC/DC Controller with Differential Output Voltage Sensing & PLLLinear Technology has introduced the LTC3811, a dual output synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with multiphase operation, differential output voltage sensing and integrated phase-lock loop (PLL) synchronization. Up to 12 phases can be paralleled and clocked out-of-phase to minimize the input and output filtering requirements for high current applications (up to 200A). The differential amplifier provides true remote output voltage sensing, enabling high accuracy regulation where IR losses occur through vias, trace runs and interconnects. Applications include high current ASIC supplies, power distribution buses, high power audio amplifiers and network servers. 
New 8-Channel Constant-Current LED Driver Targets Large LED Video DisplaysCatalyst Semiconductor has expanded its recently introduced family of large LED video display drivers with the new CAT4008, an 8-channel, constant-current sink LED driver for billboard, marquee, instrument and other large, general-purpose LED displays. The CAT4008 joins Catalyst's CAT4016, 16-channel, constant-current LED driver introduced in October 2007.
