Stackpole develops 1% tolerance chip resistors

Stackpole Electronics, Inc. announced the addition of 1% tolerance to the popular RPC Series of thick film high pulse withstanding chip resistors. Previously this series was only available down to 5% tolerance due to the elimination of the calibration laser trim. Through proprietary materials and processing, Stackpole is now able to offer 1% accuracy with only minor sacrifices to the pulse power handling of the product.

Designated the Au Series, the RoHS compliant MLCC eliminates the use of tin and lead and subsequent tin whiskering events on the PCB. Available for most standard MLCC values, AVX offers a range of gold thicknesses for flash terminations (soldering applications) from 1.9μin to 7.87μin, while the gold Std termination thicknesses start at 100μin minimum (epoxy / wire bonding applications).

Stackpole’s HVC Series High Voltage Resistors Offer ESD Withstanding Up To 40KV

The HVC Series thick film high voltage chip resistors from Stackpole are designed to operate and withstand extremely high voltages which would destroy other standard and medium voltage resistors. The high resistance values in the HVC Series in standard chip sizes of 1206 and larger are rated for voltage handling above 15KV, and the 3512 size chip can withstand up to 40KV transients. This means that even repetitive ESD surges of 15KV will not significantly affect the performance of these resistors. Standard and medium voltage chip resistors can have ESD perfomance that ranges from good to completely unacceptable at 3KV and 10KV levels. This is due to the wide range of laser calibration trimming necessary to achieve the required tolerances for these series. However the HVC Series utilizes a unique direct deposition onto the substrate, which allows for the highest resistance values and highest voltage handling with typically very little laser trim calibration needed.

Murata has launched its first non-ceramic based capacitor product, the ECAS series of polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors. The introduction of polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitor technology is the result of Murata's purchase of Showa Denko K.K.'s (SDK) conductive polymer capacitor business. Polymer capacitors exhibit strong equivalent series resistance (ESR) performance compared to traditional electrolytic capacitors and provide similar characteristics to multi-layer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The ECAS series allows Murata to greatly expand its high capacitance offerings, giving customers a full range of capacitor solutions. Markets for the ECAS series capacitor include computer, digital audio visual and telecom for overall power management.

Stackpole Announces Release Of The MHL Series Aluminum Clad Wirewounds Rated Up To 1000 Watts

Stackpole announces the release of its aluminum housed low profile wirewounds, the MHL Series. Available in power ratings from 60 watts up to 1000 watts, this series offers a high power wirewound solution that is typically less than half the height of traditional aluminum housed wirewounds. This product has standard lead wire terminations coming out of one end, and can also be provided with leads coming out of opposite ends or with quick connect tabs. Murata develops world's smallest 10uF, 25V rated monolithic ceramic capacitor

Murata has developed a 1608-size 10uF monolithic ceramic capacitor, the GRM188R61E106M, which is the world's smallest with a 25V rating. Compared to previous 10uF/25V models, the new capacitor is approximately 60% smaller in volume, contributing to equipment downsizing. Further, its capacitance has been increased ten-fold compared to previous Murata capacitors with the same case size, rated voltage and temperature characteristics.

The SMR3P devices feature a TCR of ± 0.5 ppm/°C maximum (+ 25 °C to + 125 °C), tolerances to 0.01 %, load-life stability of ± 0.005 % (50 ppm) after 10,000 hours with 0.6 W at 70 °C, and PCR (ΔR due to self heating) of ± 5 ppm at a rated power 0.6 W at + 70 °C or 0.3 W at + 125 °C.
