Metal Foil resistor series from Ohmite

Ohmite has launched its first Metal Foil resistor series designed to meet the demands, among other applications, of manufacturers of battery powered devices who are looking for tight tolerances for the accurate measurement of current draw and a low TCR so that the resistor value will not drift too much as temperatures increase.

The FCS Series offers a range of SMD sizes covering 2W, 3W, and 4W power ratings. Previously, Ohmite’s minimum resistance value for any SMD part was 0.005 ohms but now the FCS series offers values down to 0.0005 ohms.

Because of the metal alloy construction, the components also boast excellent TCR ratings from 50-150 ppm/C depending on value. At 5 milliohms and above, the standard tolerance is 1%.

Competitive with similar products in the market, which are not commonly available due to the special technologies involved, Ohmite recognise the need for lower resistor values, which allows the designer to measure higher current, and at the same time reduce the inefficiency of wasting power in the form of heat.
