C&K Extends Life Span of Micro-miniature, Snap-acting detect switch
C&K Components has significantly extended the operating life of its microminiature snap-acting detect switch to 100,000 actuations. Available in four surface mount options, the MDS Series snap-acting switch is also available in vertical and right-angle PCB mount and through-hole versions which now include surface mount options of: "left with pins," "left with no pins," "right with pins," and "right with no pins."
Four-channel, 16-bit, 125-MSPS A/D Converter Delivers Superior Dynamic Performance and Industry’s Lowest Power and Package Size for its Class
Analog Devices Inc. today the addition of a 4-channel high-speed A/D converter to its market-leading data converter product portfolio. The AD9653 A/D converter is designed for medical imaging and communications applications where the combination of high channel density, low power and small size provide systems engineers with greater design flexibility and lower per-channel cost for data conversion.
Pulse Electronics Introduces Pin-in-Paste RJ45 Connectors with Integrated Magnetics
Pulse Electronics Corporation introduces pin-in-paste RJ45 connectors with integrated magnetics. The pin-in-paste method, also called pin-in-hole or intrusive reflow, is a process that allows through-hole components to be reflow soldered instead of wave soldered.
Crystek Achieves Phase Noise Benchmark of -168 dBc/Hz With CCHD-950 HCMOS Clock Oscillator Development
Crystek Corporation's Ultra-Low Phase Noise CCHD-950 Series HCMOS Clock Oscillator pushes the phase noise performance benchmark with a -168 dBc/Hz noise floor (100 MHz model). The CCHD-950 generates frequencies between 45 MHz and 130 MHz, with 50 MHz, 80 MHz, 100 MHz and 130 MHz offered as standard.
200mA High Speed LDO Voltage Regulator with Inrush Current Prevention
The new XC6233 Series of voltage regulators from Torex Semiconductor offer fast load transient response performance, PSRR is 75dB @ 1kHz, as well as low quiescent current performance, only 45µA in operation. These fast, low dropout voltage regulators provide a highly stable, low noise supply that meets the demands of most battery-driven circuits.
UNIPOWER modules at the heart of “silent” power shelf from Communications Audit
Designers and builders of rack-based systems are not generally space constrained when it comes to specifying the power source. Not for them the constant need to consider size, weight and heat dissipation and very few need to be concerned with other factors such as the electrical "noise" generated by the power supply itself. And, if noise is an issue, most designers will select a linear power supply to do the job.
DSM’s Stanyl ForTii boosts connector performance at Amphenol East Asia, Taiwan
Industry trends such as miniaturization, integration or "thinnovation", combined with the move towards Cloud Computing, will mean that areas such as the server market will depend increasingly on reflow soldering assembly technology. The required power supplies to drive each of these systems can easily reach 500V or more.
Altium and NXP collaborate to deliver component content online
Altium announces the release of a new range of board-level components for industry-leading ARM Cortex-M3, Cortex-M4 & Cortex-M0 based microcontrollers from NXP Semiconductors to their subscription customers through AltiumLive.
CMOS Image Sensors Begin Breaking Sales Records Again
After hitting a rough patch in the second half of the last decade, CMOS image sensors have finally regained growth momentum, and this once high-flying optoelectronics market segment is now expected to set record-high sales each year through 2016 (see Figure), according to IC Insights' new 2012 Optoelectronics, Sensors/Actuators, and Discretes (O-S-D) Report.
Success of 3D NanoCompass will enable Baolab to create low cost, smart, reconfigurable Inertial Measurement Unit
Baolab Microsystems has announced that it expects to be able to modify the structures that it designed for its 3D NanoCompass to build a range of other motion sensors and, ultimately, to create low cost, smart, reconfigurable Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs). These NanoIMUs will use Baolab's patented, award winning NanoEMS technology to create nanoscale MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) within the standard metal structure of a high volume manufactured CMOS wafer.
Cyntech seeks distributors for low-cost Raspberry Pi box
Cyntech Components has designed a compact, low-cost enclosure for the Raspberry Pi computer. The enclosure, which is available in bright pink or black, has openings for the connectors - including a recessed slot to protect audio and video connections, windows for LED indicators, non-slip rubber feet, and two slots on the back to enable the box to be mounted on a vertical surface.
Endomagnetics Expands its Horizons
Cambridge company Endomagnetics is receiving enquiries from across the world after it featured on the BBC World Horizons programme recently. The Horizons series features companies and technologies that have the potential to address some of the planet's most pressing challenges.
Endomagnetics Wins ACES Award
Endomagnetics and one of its founders has picked up a major accolade by being recognised in the Science Business Academic Excellence Awards (ACES). The company picked up the Life Sciences Award, given by the distinguished panel of judges to the most successful university spin-out company. Endomagnetics is developing advanced magnetic sensing technology for use in breast cancer staging, based on technology developed between University College London and at the University of Houston.
Nexeon wins Climate Week Award for Best Technological Breakthrough
Abingdon-based Nexeon has won a prestigious Climate Week Award in the Best Technological Breakthrough category, for their lithium ion battery technology that uses silicon in place of carbon. Finalists in 14 categories along with eminent individuals attended the Climate Week reception at Lancaster House, London on 12 March.
